I boggle at people who compile clearly BETA software with -O2.  I have
not grabbed a copy of Circle 3.0 yet, but I suggest compiling with
gcc -g3 if anything.  It may be a bigger binary and may not be
optimized, but you will save yourself headaches in chasing down bugs.
