I'm running my MUD on a IBM rs6000 with AIX. On Linux (k-vers. 1.2.13)
I do the coding. I found out that because of some strange reason the
checkpointing routine never got called (on both machines), so I tried
other alarm signals and it worked.

On Linux use the kill-command with a PID and a signal number. To see
the signal numbers check the man pages ( man 7 if I am right ).
