Where are these from? FD_SET/FD_ZERO?

They are not defined anywhere in the code files or header files... and
my compiler help index doesn't contain them...

Could someone tell me where I could get help on these? My compiler is
complaining that FD_SET is comparing unsigned and signed chars, and I
have about 3 million of them warnings so I want to somehow get rid of
some of them...
