Looks like your C library complained that you fudged something in the
malloc internal structures.  I'd bet memory corruption somewhere.

I grep'd through glibc 2.0.6 and didn't find the message so I can't tell
you the exact condition that triggered it. (Don't have libc5 source handy.)
