modifying player on disk

I'm sure this has come up before, but I think it should be fixed... or maybe
it has been.

There should be a better check in functions that first scans for a player in
game, then checks for him in the player file, loads them and does things.
Those functions should check for the character loaded but not in game.

If a player was to goto the main menu or other location, and an immortal
decides to modify the player's file (ie gold), there would be no change when
the player enters the game.

Some suggested functions for fix: do_set, do_stat, any other location
that loads char from disk, and displays character stats or writes to player
file.
