The file room_depth.zip contains several editted bpl14 files. I don't know how to make a 'patch' in win95 so I just zipped the files. The room_depth.zip file is a quick hack to the code that add depths to rooms. It is not done in its entirety but there is enough there toget a decent coder going. Essentially what room depth means is that characters and objects will appear like this in the room: A wooden chest is here. [at 10'] Tanis the Half-Elf is here. [at 20'] Players and mobs will have to 'advance' or 'retreat' inside the room to move around. Weapons like swords will now only be affective in melee range ( < 10'). Other weapons like bows and arrows will now be much easier to code...simply add a range for them and the altered code will work everything else out. Like I said, this is hack and is therefore not the cleanest code in the world, but its nice enough. There is plenty more work to do to make this concept solid in the game but its not too much work to not even try to add what I've got. So give it a whirl and add a whole new dimension to your MUD. ...From the Immortal Staff at Eclipse of Fate MUD
