hmm I don't really get what it is you're trying to do...
(if you are running linux, and installed from a package, you should`
already ahve GCC)
anyways, gcc is available on sunsite.unc.edu or
tsx-11.mit.edu
in the pub/Linux/GCC directory on sunsite.
and pub/linux/packages/GCC on tsx-11 
heh .. outta curiosity why did u try to compile linux under dos?
