evaluating #defines in gdb?

Whenever I use gdb, I keep trying to print stuff like GET_STR(ch), and 
since GET_STR is a #define, gdb just scratches its head and shrugs. Any 
way to make gdb spot all those defines in utils.h or am I stuck looking 
it up and then printing ch->playerwhatever.str?
