yes, systems do vary. hardware varies, software (compilers) vary, and setups
vary. and their are many, many, more compilers for windows then those two. regardless, i was looking for help compiling circle with a _free_ compiler, such as cygwin32 or lcc.

as for linux and unix, versions and distributions of gcc vary _very_ much, as do available libraries, and their versions, etc etc. and gcc is included in some distributions of *nix, and not in others.
