You seem to be conviently ignoring (or don't care about) the -d switch
which lets you change what data directory is used.
You have a copy of the code, feel free to change it. I'm not going to
dilute the usefulness of the -d switch just so you can have the credits
file in a different directory to do something which won't work anyway.
(Patching it that is.)
The directory idea would work, but it's not extremely portable.
