Building Worlds from ASCII

Just a little idea I came up with, though I'd like to
get some outside opinions.

I'm thinking about a program (could be a subprog of circle, but
I think it would be better seperate) that would convert a ascii map
file into a .wld file. The idea is quick creation of wilderness areas
that player's rarely visit, but have to be there in between towns.

A file would look like this:

@@@@::::::@@@@@@
@@@@@:@@@@
#DFFFF@@@#
*   &  ZZZZZZZZ
LL::" MGGG

Whatever....just a bunch of characters. This would be folowed by
definitions:

CHAR: #
SECT: 3
DESC: You are in blah blah blah...room description
and so on and so on, describing everything about the room...if you use a
tag
twice under the same character, it would randomly pick one...thus i could
do
SECT: 5
SECT: 8
under @ and @ would be either sector type 5 or 8 (50/50 chance) rooms
would be linked according to position on map...only using nesw, of
course.
You could define everything you want in this file, including mob and obj
loads
in the room.

I think it would be a useful tool...but I wan't some other opinions
before starting.
