Well.. think of it this way:
The person can feel the wepaon hitting him first of all.
The person can also see the hand that wields the weapon.
This would make it logical that the person could attempt
to disarm whatever is walloping him, no?  After all, you
can usually see where the item is by watching the hand's
movement, and if you feel it as well when it hits you...
