[Circle] [?] OasisOLC Debugging Project Mailinglist

Hi,

A post I received from Ole Gjerde (gjerde@plains.nodak.edu) about his
problems with OasisOLC, and a few letters after that have resulted in me
setting up a 'OasisOLC Debugging Project Mailinglist (oasisbug)'.

The information how to join is at the bottom of this message, but first a
little politics :)

It's my understanding that Harvey 'Rv' Gilpin is no longer supporting the
OasisOLC release in either bugfixes, nor new releases.
Since there still seem to be lots of bugs that cause serious problems for
people (crashbugs), I have set up this list, for people who want to submit
bugrepports, and help debugging/fixing the most bugs possible in the v1.1
release of OasisOLC.

The list is unmoderated by default, so anyone who wants to join can join
freely. The list is NOT for questions regarding OasisOLC, and if you ask a
question there you might be kicked off the list, and banned! If you have
questions regarding OasisOLC try Harvey Gilpin or this list!
You can choose to just subscribe to the list, and watch what scrolls by on
it if you feel like it, there is no obligation to submit bugrepports/fixes
or other rules to participate on the list, except all trafic should be
relevant for the process of debugging OasisOLC.

When/If the 'OasisOLC Debugging Project' makes a major bugfix of the
OasisOLC code, it will release a new version/patch of the OasisOLC
pacgage, and with the sanctuary of Alex/Jeremy place it on the circlemud
ftp site(s). This means that if you don't want to participate in the
debugging efford, but want to get the bugfixed version of the OLC package,
you can just sit back, relax and get it from the circlemud ftp site when
it's ready.

OK, having said all this, here is how to join: (majordomo listsoftware)

Send a e-mail message to: majordomo@f.you.net

Don't put anything in the subject field of it, but instead in the
message-body write:

subscribe oasisbug
end

This will put you on the mailinglist, and if you're 'online' on the net,
you will receive a confirmation message of the subscription to this list,
along with a little informational document about how to unsubscribe and
what the list is within about 15 minutes or so.

When subscribed to the list you can send mail to : oasisbug@f.you.net

To get help on what commnds are available in general on the mailinglist,
send a message to majordomo@f.you.net, with the body message :

help
end

That should cover this messages purpose.
I hope to see all you crazy imps out there, who want to help
bugrepporting/fixing and tidying up OasisOLC on the mailinglist.

Regards,
Con.
