ok, i had to format a little for 80 cols buy, what is wrong? or is it the "$n
gossips, 'hi'".  if that is it, add a buf[0]='\0';  This is probably just
something left over from a previous command. The buffer system that George wrote
up automatically clears the buffer when you go to get it.
