or simplify

as opposed to tracking until you hit the mob or type track stop
simply track and if the character moves into the room that track indicates
track again - otherwise cancel the track

ie

> track fido
You sense a trail to the north.
> north
You sense a trail to the east.
> south
> north
> east
<nothing>

that way you only track the mob again if you follow the trail you have found
- providing simplistic track cancel and an easier way of dealing with the issue

specific code is left as an exercise for you to carry out ;)

"Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?"
"That depends a good deal on where you want to get to," said the Cat.
"I don't much care where-" said Alice.
"Then it doesn't matter which way you go," said the Cat.
"-so long as I get _somewhere_," Alice added as an explanation.
"Oh, you're sure to do that," said the Cat, "if only you walk long enough."
