[OFFTOPIC] [CODE] Win API C programming

I was wanting to possibly port Circle fully to a windows GUI enviroment, but
don't
know much about the WinAPI. I don't want to learn MFC, but instead the
actual WinAPI.
My experience is in C, not C++. If anyone could point me to an online
tutorial I'd
be most grateful.. I know there is a fabulous book, but at AU$110, it is
kinda out
of my budget.

ObCircle:

I've got a bit of an idea. I want people to react more with NPCs than to
just buy
goods from them. So I thought about various NPCs in the cities that you can buy
services from. Say you might like to hire out a mercenary from a bar or
something
like that. What I'm stuck on is I want to player to be able to control the NPC,
but I want it to look to the other players that both the player and the NPC are
actual people. I don't want to player to be dormant whilst the mercenary goes
around town if you get me. You could hire butlers and maids and chefs etc. etc.
What do people think?

Thanks,

Andrew.
