Stats back to normal?

I have a statue in my mud thats sets your stats depending on what
race you are. But in a few seconds is the stats set back to normal
and if you have over 18 in your stats will the stat be set back to
18. I used the command grep to locate 18 and replace it with 25
but it still dosnt work. I hope someone here can help me with this weird
bug..
