Well, I tried actually just putting the do_olc posted earlier into my olc.c
and it had no effect.  I _almost_ think it's my compiler--the crash occurs
when it tries to free(help_table); so that it can do help_table = new_help_table.  anyway, could it be my compiler?  It'c GCC that comes with slackware 3.4
