[OFF-TOPIC] GDB

I am using Slackware 2.0 and I have circle30bpl11. when I try to save a
char the mud crashes. and I get a core dump but I cannot get gdb to see
the core file it comes back as wrong format.

I use the line

gdb bin/circle lib/core

from the circle30bpl11/ dir and bin/circle is there along with lib/core
being there. any idea's?
