It's awfully useful in the clients that use it - it allows them to snarf
the prompt (since the prompt is identified as ending with a GA sequence,
and starting after the previous newline) and display it on the status line
and/or remove it from the main MUD output. I can't imagine seeing the
prompt spam my screen again! :)
One such client is tinyfugue, another is mcl, MUD Client for Linux,
http://www.abandoned.org/drylock/mcl/. I like the latter one better, in
fact it's the only one I ever use! <G>
