calling do_hit right

I have added AFF_HASTE and SPELL_HASTE and it all workes fine
whenever I call     

the mud crashes when the mob dies and it tries to hit them again...

can any one help me here? how can I call HIT without the mud crashing?
and what would be the best way to go about this?
